GOVERNORS elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will be meeting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital today to review the party’s position on the state of the nation.
The meeting, which will be presided over by PDP Governors Forum Chairman and Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, is expected to be attended by the 15 governors elected on the platform of the main opposition party.
A statement yesterday by the Director General of the PDP Governors Forum, C.I.D Maduabum, said the meeting will also discuss issues of national security and the fast shrinking economy.
Maduabum added that the meeting will afford the governors the opportunity to fine-tune strategies to support the PDP as a viable and necessary alternative to All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.
The opposition party governors had on April 9, held a similar meeting in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, where they raised the alarm, warning that Nigeria was fast drifting into a failed state.
The governors had, in a communique issued at the end of the meeting, declared that the ruling APC lacked the capacity to govern the country effectively, even as they expressed concerns at the deteriorating relations among the various ethnic groups in the country.
