The Director-general of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo has urged Nigerian Youths to embrace the spirit of complementing government’s efforts in ensuring the beautification and clean environment of their immediate communities.
The DG also admonished the future leaders to shun acts capable of endangering their livelihood such as kidnapping, armed rubbery, thuggery, violence, prostitution and other social vices.
Fikpo gave the advice while declaring open a-3-month training programme for 42 unemployed youths on Environmental Beautification which began in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital at the weekend.
The beneficiaries according to him would be trained on hard landscaping (producing or laying of lnter-locking tiles), soft landscaping (Horticulture), Plaster of paris (POP) and wall/floor tiling
In his welcome address, the Kogi State coordinator of NDE, Mallam, Zakari Abubakar said that the orientation programme was the third held recently in Kogi State for various departments to train unemployed youths on the directive of the Director General of NDE, Mall. Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, to reinvigorate the activities of the directorate on job creation.
He enjoined the youths to embrace skill acquisition instead of their endless search for white collar-jobs which are hard to come by.
Responding onbehalf of the trainees, Mr. Labija Amos expressed their joy for the opportunity given them to acquire skills freely.
He promised that they would make judicious use of the rare privileged.
He thanked the management of the directorate for undertaking to pay them monthly stipend in addition to the allowances to be paid to the instructors
