The House of Representatives said President Muhammadu Buhari has not officially communicated his inability to honour its invitation for a discourse over raging security matters.
The Speaker made this known while responding to a point of order from a member the People’s Democratic Party from Rivers state, Bob Solomon.
The Rivers state lawmaker had sought to know why the President was on the floor of he House after giving an assurance of his appearance.
It is recalled that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN, said on Wednesday that the National Assembly lacks the constitutional powers to summon President Muhammadu Buhari over worsening security situation in the country.
The House of Representatives had, in the wake of the killing of 43 rice farmers at Zabarmari, Borno State, by Boko Haram, summoned the President to appear before a joint session of the National Assembly to give explanations on the security situation in the country.
