For the fifth year running, journalists across Africa are being honoured through the Pan African Re/Insurance Journalism Awards.
Before the awards ceremony, there will be a unique live panel discussion on the Covid-19 pandemic, insurance regulators from Kenya, Nigeria and Zimbabwe will be debating its effect on African insurance markets.
Answering key questions, the regulators will address whether they
Would intervene in disputes between insurers and insureds on business interruption claims arising out of Covid-19 lock-downs?
Consider the reputation of insurance to have been harmed due to failure by the sector to mitigate the financial impact of Covid-19 related losses?
Can play a part in maintaining the sector’s hitherto growing reputation for responding to claims?

Leading Pan African Reinsurance firm,Continental Reinsurance Plc, will honour winners of its 2020 Pan African Re/Insurance Journalism Awards at avirtual awards ceremony following travel restrictions occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the fifth edition of these prestigious awards, five winners will be picked from 77 entries that were submitted by business reporters from 15 French and English-countries under the four categories: Best re/insurance Print Article, Best re/insurance Online Article, Best re/insurance Broadcast Article and Best re/insurance French Article – print/online/broadcast.
Finally, the Future Talent Award was recommended by the judges to recognise the outstanding entry among the four categories. It replaces the existing pan-African re/insurance Journalist of the Year Award.
