The Atiku’s Support and Movement Forum has said that former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has what it takes to defeat incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 elections.
The group expressed this in a statement signed by its National General Secretary, Olawumi Abdulsemih and made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Thursday.
He explained that the group which is well established in 22 states of Nigeria, is embarking on a tour to lobby delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to ensure Atiku emerges their party’s flagbearer if the party wants to claim back Aso Rock in 2019.
“The PDP has all it takes to defeat President Buhari if the party fields Atiku as its candidate. This I’d because he is the top grassroots politician that can unseat the incumbent.
“PDP is the largest party in Africa despite the fact that they lost power to APC in 2015, they still remain the number one opposition to the ruling party. People voted APC in 2015 because they thought that they will do better than PDP but now that they have woefully failed, we believe Nigerians will have to shift their trust back to PDP.
“Atiku has followers all over Nigeria and is loved by the common man because of what he stands for. No politician for now can beat the incumbent, but with the help of other contenders from Northern Nigeria, Atiku will help the party take back Aso Rock,” the statement assured.
The statement informed that the secretary of the group was in Kaduna to interact with other groups supporting Atiku and from the feelers, is optimistic that the support there is overwhelming.
The statement explained that based on their objectives which include to canvass strongly for the actualization of the presidential ambition of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar on viable grounds through the forum’s states branches, they would do more advocacy at the grassroots.
“To support the campaign with meaningful grassroots programme
” To support the campaign with meaningful grassroots programmes of great benefits .
“To build a perfect relationship between the people and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar on various developmental ground that suit both the community and the people,” it added.
The group which is making serious waves was formed on February 4th 2018 and has its headquarters situated at Suleja, Niger State.
