Liverpool and Manchester City will face each other in the Champions League quarter-final in an all-English clash.

The two Premier League clubs will go up against one another at Anfield in the first leg before the return leg at the Etihad Stadium.

The three Spanish clubs have all been kept apart with Barcelona facing Roma, Real Madrid playing Juventus — a repeat of last year’s final — and Sevilla going up against German giants Bayern Munich.

Champions League: Quarter-final

Barcelona vs Roma (First leg: April 4 Second leg: April 10)

Sevilla vs Bayern Munich (April 3; April 11)

Juventus vs Real Madrid (April 3; April 11)

Liverpool vs Manchester City (April 4; April 10)

The draw means Pep Guardiola’s men face a daunting run of fixtures, starting with the first leg trip to Anfield on April 3-4 and followed by the Manchester derby on April 7 before the Champions League second leg on April 10-11.

Making it more significant, Manchester City may have the chance to seal the title against their rivals.

Man City director of football Txiki Begiristain: ‘It’s a very difficult one. We like to travel and to go to another country in the Champions League but it is what it is.

‘We know each other very well, they are a very offensive team, the truth is it is going to be a great couple of games and we are going to see good football.’

Liverpool face a similar challenge as they must contest a Merseyside derby against Everton in between the two legs.

The two English clubs have already played each other twice in the Premier League this season.

Manchester City romped to a 5-0 home win during September, with Gabriel Jesus and Leroy Sane both scoring twice after Sadio Mane had been sent off.

Liverpool, though, gained revenge at Anfield in January when they inflicted what so far has been the only Premier League defeat for City, who were beaten 4-3 with two late goals adding some respectability to the final scoreline.

Jurgen Klopp will come up against

Manchester City breezed into the second knockout round with a 5-2 aggregate win over Swiss champions Basle, but a home defeat in the second leg will be a slight cause of concern for Guardiola.

The Citizens remain slight favourites to win their first European crown ahead of Spanish duo Barcelona and Real Madrid, both of whom had to overcome much tougher opponents to reach this stage.

Real Madrid dispatched early favourites Paris Saint-Germain thanks to another solo performance from Cristiano Ronaldo over two legs. The Portuguese scored three goals to help Zinedine Zidane’s men to a 5-2 aggregate win.

Barcelona had to endure a testing time against Premier League champions Chelsea in a tight first leg, but Lionel Messi inspired them to victory with two goals and an assist at the Nou Camp.

The third and final Spanish representative is Sevilla, who shocked Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United to leave the Portuguese’s standing at Old Trafford significantly damaged.

Mourinho’s former side Porto also limped out with their tail between their legs after being dispatched by Liverpool, the Premier League’s second and final representative in the quarter-finals. A 5-0 win in the away leg meant Jurgen Klopp’s men could relax to a 0-0 draw at Anfield.

Juventus and Bayern Munich showed their title credentials in different ways as the Italian’s came back from the brink to beat Tottenham at Wembley while Bayern Munich simply smashed past Besiktas, winning 8-1 on aggregate.

The Italian side are looking for their third final appearance in four years but their first Champions League title for 22 years. Indeed, they have suffered five successive defeats in the final since last lifting the famous trophy in 1996.

Bayern Munich have not made the final since winning the treble at Wembley in 2013, but are buoyed by the return of legendary manager Jupp Heynckes, who led them to that historic success.

Last and quite possibly least, Roma go into the final eight as the dark horse after edging Shakhtar Donetsk on away goals.
