A deadly explosion ripped through the headquarters of the Anti-bomb unit and Criminal Investigative Department (CID) of the Nigeria Police in Yola, capital of Adamawa state on Thursday.
A witness told Daily Trust that many corpses of policemen and civilians were lying in the premises in the aftermath of the blast.
The Adamawa state commissioner of police Muhammed Ghazali however told Daily Trust that the explosion wasn’t from the Boko Haram insurgents.
He said one of the bombs kept by the police accidentally exploded.
Adamawa is one of the North East states where Boko Haram insurgents have killed thousands of people and displaced millions.
Yola had experienced bomb blasts by Boko Haram elements in the past including mosque.
