Imo Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere in a warm handshake with the new Deputy Comptroller of Prisons and Commandant of Nigeria Prisons Armed Squad School, Owerri, Mr. Obiako Nickolas when the latter paid a courtesy call to Imo Deputy Governor earlier today in Government House, Owerri
Governor Okorocha has congratulated Deputy Comptroller and new Commandant of Nigeria Prisons Armed Squad School, Owerri, Imo State, Mr. Obiako Nicholas, on his new appointment.
Governor Okorocha made this remark through his Deputy Prince Eze Madumere when the new Commandant paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Deputy Governor earlier today.
Prince Madumere commended Mr. Obiako for his perseverance, professionalism and knack for excellence, which has led him to his present status as the Deputy Comptroller General of Nigeria prisons and the Commandant of the Armed Squad School, the post he is the first indigene of the State if not the entire South East to hold.
He used the opportunity to commend them for their effort in ensuring that the men and women who went through their tutelage are nationally and globally respected for their professional sense of duty and strategy. He attributed the presence of the school in Owerri as one of the strategic reasons Owerri Prisons has remained one of the calm prison facility that has not had any sad experience of jail break, which he said could be unimaginably unpalatable given its location at the hearts of the capital territory.
The number two citizen of the State while narrating his ordeal during his incarceration on trumped up charges on the eve of 2011 elections decried the discomforting condition of the prison facility due to its lack of capacity to cater for over two inmates while it was originally designed to cater for about only five hundred and fifty inmates.

He assured the Deputy Governor of the school’s readiness to give the government whatever strategic support it requires from it that is within its area of operation.
