Organizers of the Abuja Carnival now known as the Nigeria National Carnival has revealed that the 2015 edition of the festival has received the royal blessing of Oba Adegboyega Dosunmu Amororo II, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom.
Former green Eagles player Folorunsho Okenla who has been mandated to run the Carnival for the next three years revealed that the carnival train will on Thursday move to Abeokuta Ogun state, Nigeria, for the investiture of Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Adegboyega Dosunmu Amororo II, as a patron.
“We did not pick him as our patron because of his position alone, he is also a professional theater person, he is still active in the creative industry, he still directs movies. I’m sure you’ve heard about the Village Headmaster. Okenla said.
According to the former Birmingham City player who is now a consultant, the Nigeria National Carnival serves as a platform for showcasing talents, projecting cultural heritages and building national identity, it also creates employment and enhances social interactions among Nigerians.
Meanwhile, the 2015 edition opens on November 21 and runs through November 24 in Abuja with the theme ‘The Creative Industry: Pivot to Economic Growth.’
