The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) has denied media reports that the Bayelsa state Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson and Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha were sent out of the peace meeting initiated by the National secretariat of the party at the weekend in Otuoke, Bayelsa State.
Calling on the members of the party and the general public to disregard the report, the Secretary of the PDP peace committee, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh in a statement said, the report which was masterminded by the All Progressives Congress, APC was aimed causing disunity between the leaders and members of the PDP in the State.
According to him, the Committee had earlier met with the Governor, the State Executive Council and the immediate past President of the Country, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, before the meeting it had with other aggrieved members of the party.
The APC members, as contained in the statement are not happy with the outcome of the meeting, hence the reason why they went to town with their tales of woes.
It reads in part; I, on the instruction of the Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Haliru Mohammed Bello, the Chairman Board of Trustees and myself, the National Vice Chairman of the PDP, hereby affirm that, at no time were these two great party men asked out of the meeting.
The committee met with the Governor and State Exco on one hand, the former President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and the aggrieved members on the other separately.
The committee had a very good outing, which resulted in the recall of the suspended and expelled party members. The recalled members were pleased to return to the party.
The Party wishes to state that, this mis-information is the handiwork of the APC, as they fear for the outcome of the reconciliation in the party.
