Chelsea have gotten down to business with several of their talented young players very early this transfer window, already wrapping up loan deals for several players on the fringe of the first team. On Tuesday, reports have emerged that the club could be working on another agreement, this time involving Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo and Ligue 1 side Lille.
Omeruo spent the season on loan at Middlesbrough, where he made 18 starts and two substitute appearances. He also spent half of the 2013/14 season at Boro, where he was a regular starter for the Championship side. Prior to the move to England, Kenneth had a loan spell at ADO Den Haag, where he immediately became the first choice at right back, and played very well.
Lille would be an interesting destination for the Nigerian, as they’re a competitive side in a league that has all sorts of financial troubles. It could be a good experience for the youngster, as long as he’s able to break into the rotation.
Whether or not this report has any legs, Lille would be an intriguing option for Omeruo. Here’s hoping it’s accurate.
