Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed the Premier League is the world’s best because global stars flock to England.
The top flight has had just two Champions League finalists over the last six seasons compared to five in the six years previous, while just five Premier League players made the 2015 Ballon d’Or 23-man shortlist.
But Wenger insists England still boasts the best domestic league and feels players are drawn to the country where football was created.
He told BBC Radio 4’s ‘World at One’ programme he ‘would agree’ when asked if the Premier League led the way.
The Frenchman added: “It’s the quality of the stadiums, the quality of the support, the passion that is behind every single club and the fact that the best players in the world are concentrated in the Premier League.
