Top political leaders of the former Abak Division otherwise known as Abak 5 in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district have come together to openly endorse the candidacy of the PDP gubernatorial candidate Mr. Udom Emmanuel.
Notable at the endorsement where serving and former political office holders of the 5 local government areas, including Abak, Etim Ekpo, Ika, Oruk Anam and Ukanafun.
The event which was attended by the PDP governorship candidate Mr Udom Emmanuel, his running mate Moses Ekpo, the deputy Speaker of the State Assembly Sir Udo Akpan, and a foremost journalist Mr Ray Ekpu.
The occasion which was moderated by Mr Aniekan Umanah the state Commissioner for Information saw the stakeholders from the Abak 5 speaking one after the other in support of Mr Udom Emmanuel as the next governor of the State.
Responding, the PDP guber candidate noted that as an in-law in the division, he would not disappoint them as he will do everything possible to meet their yearnings and aspirations.
He lauded the people for their ingenuity and credibility and described them as worthy partners in his programme of wealth creation, industrialization and manpower development.
Mr Emmanuel restated that his administration will create an egalitarian society where the indigenes will be gainfully employed and new industries and opportunities will be created for even development of the entire state.
Also speaking the deputy speaker of the Akwa Ibom state house of assembly and member representing Oruk Anam noted that Abak 5 will on Saturday deliver 100% vote to the PDP just as they did two weeks ago.
On his part, Mr. Aniekan Umanah assured the PDP governorship hopefuls that Abak 5 is his home and the people love him with passion which is why they will troop out on Saturday April 11th to vote massively for the rulling People Democratic Party in the state.
Other political and religious leaders who also spoke at the event noted that Mr. Udom Emmanuel has an impeccable record and expressed the hope that he will keep to his promises of fully industrializing and developing the State.
A renowned medical consultant Dr. Ignatius Ukpong thanked him for picking one of their own “Mr Moses Ekpo as his deputy, noting that the zone (Abak 5) will return PDP at the polls.
Dr Ignatius Ukpong said “I have known Moses Ekpo for a very long time and I know that he will make the entire Abak 5 division proud as he will attract development and make us have a sense of belonging as far as Udom’s government is concerned”.
A voice vote for the adoption of Mr Emmanuel was conducted by the Deputy Speaker Sir Udo K Akpan while a permanent secretary in the State Pastor Praise Okon prayed for the candidate’s success.
