THE Adamawa Police Command on Friday said it had uncovered 19 high-calibre bombs in a bush near Yola.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Gabriel Adaji, announced this while addressing newsmen in Yola.
Adaji said the bombs were uncovered following information given to the command.
He said the bombs weighed between 25kg and 30kg and were capable of demolishing a ten-storey building completely, if detonated.
“Yesterday some prepared bombs ready for detonation were discovered and they are with us,” Adaji said.
He said the command got information that some hoodlums were planning to blow up some strategic structures in Yola.
“All the bombs are locally made and contain high quantity of dynamite and Ammonium.
“And all the bombs are 90 per cent ready, the remaining ten per cent is just to connect and detonate, ” the commissioner said.
He urged the people of the state to be vigilant and report any suspicious character to the nearest security outfit.(NAN)
