The Knights of St Mulumba, Lekki Sub-council has tasked Nigerians to support the care of the less privileged, promote positive values that would engender a better society and believe in good cause for common good.

Speaking during an outdoor function of the group, Arch. Jonny Ngonadi, Grand Knight, Lekki Sub council revealed that KSM, which is a group of dedicated Catholics whose main concern is to live life of holiness and use their resources in furthering the missionary mandate in their homes and in the larger society, seeks to make the society a better place by being sensitive to the needs of the poor and giving succour to the destitute, the disadvantaged and the oppressed in the society.

According to Arch. Ngonadi “As a group, we work towards a high sense of order and discipline within society, work for justice always and everywhere for the benefit of mankind, live an exemplary catholic life and defend the faith as well as support other intentions and actions that are good, noble, sacred, holy and beautiful. These virtues, members are encouraged to live out in their lives, in order to make the society that radiates love and peace.”

Chief Tony Idigbe, Deputy Grand Knight, Lekki Sub-council, explained that KSM whose membership spans all cadres of professionals such as Government Administrative Officers, Teachers, Lawyers, Businessmen, Professors, Engineers, Bankers, Doctors and other professionals in all strata of the economy and are practicing Catholics are called to a greater call of service by mirroring the faith, hope and charity of the Christian tradition in intention and actions.

Chief Tony Idigbe, who is also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, explained that “From the structure of the Order, the Church carries out the missionary mandate through the efforts of the clergy, religious and laity of the people of God. In all, every member of the Church through unity and love strives to accomplish the Lord’s sacred instructions.

According to him “Since the establishment of KSM, the Association have continued to witness men with their wives contributing their quota to the spiritual/temporal growth of the Church. They bind themselves into fraternal organizations with the general objectives of fighting evil and promoting good. In particular, they set themselves the necessary task of uprooting the systematic and structural evil in the society. That was the spirit of the early Catholic knighthood and that is ours today.

“We are called to embrace the culture of life through pro-life programmes, take advantage of KSM’s spiritual resources, sponsor vocation and education of indigent persons, witness to Christ’s gospel as well as love and care for all human persons.”

Mr. Ena Ofugara, one of the new initiates into the Order, noted that KSM, like all Nigerians are called to a greater service by promoting love, peace, avoiding any evil, criminal, ugly and insidious intentions and actions.

“By sticking to the mission, vision, aims and objectives of the establishment of KSM coupled with the sacramental life of the Church, one is in tune to one’s spiritual life and called to a life of holiness of life,” Ofugara added.
