DELTA State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan Tuesday assured of mass turnout to welcome President Goodluck Jonathan for the State’s presidential rally holding in Asaba today (Wednesday Feb. 4).
Fielding questions from journalists shortly after inspecting venue of the rally, the Governor said all arrangements have been concluded for a successful Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential rally.
He disclosed that adequate security arrangements have been made to secure lives and property within and outside the venue stressing that expectations were high of large turnout of Deltans from different parts of the State to receive the President.
He explained that it was in anticipation of the mammoth crowd expected to give Mr. President and his team a rousing welcome that informed the decision to declare today a work-free day, adding: “You know that it’s not every day that Mr. President comes around, so this is an opportunity for Deltans to see their President in person beyond the PDP gathering.
“We are ready for the rally; we are going to have the largest crowd ever, our organisation is superb. This venue is the ideal venue for a rally as security agencies are well prepared for any eventuality. The Police and the SSS have been adequately mobilised and Deltans are very happy to receive Mr. President.
Dr Uduaghan who was accompanied by the state chairman of PDP, Chief Edwin Uzor, security chiefs in the state and other top politicians went round the venue of the rally and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements of ground.
He stated that naturally, being a PDP-controlled state, it was expected that Deltans will turn out in their large numbers for the rally without much efforts.
