A group, Concerned Citizens of Nigeria ( CCN), has expressed concern over the state of health of the Presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
According to the group’s National Coordinator, Dr. Tunji Olaniyi, the reported non-appearance of General Buhari at Edo APC rally and his purported collapse on stage at his campaign rally in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, on Thursday due to exhaustion, have left much to be desired.
But reacting swiftly to this, APC said the General tripped and fell flat as he mounted the stage to address the crowd.
It would be recalled that was absent in Edo but sent his deputy, Professor Yemi Osinbajo to represent him. This was reportedly due to his state of health and the stress of the campaign.
The APC presidential candidate was also said to have been conspicuously absent at the Osun Walk for Change on Wednesday and instead was also represented by Pastor Osinbajo.
The group said the absence of Buhari at these major political events should be an issue of concern to Nigerians on the state of his health.
“An aspiring President of the country should be mentally and physically fit to weather the storm of governance and be agile on all fronts. Lack of these may not augur well for the would-be Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federation”, Olaniyi said.
“While urging the General to brace up and face the campaign challenges, the CCN advisesd Buhari to urgently address his health-related challenges in order not to disappoint his party in the general elections coming up next month”, the group said.
