People are still trapped in the Guest House of the Synagogue Church which collapsed on Friday. General Manager of Lagos State Emergency Authority (LASEMA), Femi Osayintohu said this on Monday during a live progammme on Channels TV.
He said as at Monday morning, 45 persons have been confirmed dead, while 140 have been rescued.
He noted that the number of deaths would have been rescued if not for the attack on officials of LASEMA by members of Synagogue Church of all nations.
“They physically prevented our members from carrying out rescue operations the moment we arrived at the scene. For more than 20 minutes, they held us up. They said they did not need any help until we held a meeting with them and persuaded them that we are out to help them. The Governor, His Excellency Babatunde Fashola had to intervene,” he said.
