The Nigeria Guild of Editors led by its president, Mr. Femi Adesina, has ended their three day meeting in Owerri, with an assurance to partner with the State Government because of it’s progressive and people oriented programmes.
Mr. Adesina who gave the assurance at a dinner organized by the state government said that the Guild would always associate with governments on the side of the people.
He expressed joy that Imo State with Chief Rochas Okorocha as governor had met that standard, hence, the Guild would work very closely with the administration.
He commended governor Okorocha for working hard for his State, and that the massive transformation that has taken place would not have been possible without hardwork, prudence and dedication on the part of the governor and members of the State Executive Council.
Mr. Femi Adesina and his colleagues had earlier paid a courtesy call on the governor during which the NGE President said it was a mistake on the part of the Federal Government to have seen Boko Haram at the outset as thugs being raised by opposing political parties like APC. He argued that it was that impression that made the federal government not to take a decisive action to quell the Boko Haram insurgence earlier before now.
He said it was wrong on the part of the federal government to have seen Boko Haram and its actions as being engineered by politicians, stating that one would hope that the federal government does not make such mistake again in future. He described Imo State as one of the few states where leadership is in action.
Governor Okorocha had told the august visitors that prudence in the management of the resources of the State and dedication had been the propellers behind the feat his administration has recorded in the State in terms of achievements, adding that his interest is for history to record him as one of those who governed the state and wrote his name in gold.
On the Boko Haram menace, Governor Okorocha said it has become a national problem and also a world problem, which does not need to be politicized, calling on the federal government and on all the political leaders to come together and profer solution to the problem, adding that this is not the right time to begin to apportion blame to anybody.
The Editors had also inspected projects within Owerri, the State Capital and expressed satisfaction over what they saw.
