Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rockland Development Limited for the construction of 1,000 housing units for workers in the state.
Obiano said while signing the MoU that the housing units were one of the many programmes outlined by his administration for public servants in the state.
The governor, who was represented by the Head of Service, Mr Chidi Ezeoke, recalled that he recently donated four 38-seater buses to workers to ease their transportation problem.
“The move is a practical demonstration that the present administration has the interest of the workers at heart as evidenced in its many worker-friendly initiatives within the short period in office,” he said.
Obiano charged the private developer to keep to the terms of the agreement and ensure that the 1000 housing project was completed on schedule.
Mr Obi Eneh, the Managing Director of the firm, thanked the state government for the confidence reposed in his firm and promised to deliver the houses as agreed.
