As the race towards the 2015 general elections gradually gather momentum, a University don, Professor Soji Adejumo has threatened to send Oyo State Governor, Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi packing in the forthcoming political dispensation.
Professor Adejumo, a former Chairman of Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), made the assertion on Thursday at the Oyo State Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the occasion of his formal declaration to contest the State Governorship election under the platform of the party.
While describing his coming into the race as a divine moment in the history of the state, Adejumo insisted that he is in a better position to send packing the administration of Senator Ajimobi.
According to him, the past three years of the present administration in the state have led to the crushing of homes, destruction of shops, shattering of domestic economies, dashing of hopes and callous break of electioneering promises.
Specifically, he remarked that the Ajimobi administration in Oyo State has erased the middle class from existence adding that the masses have become inconsequential.
Professor Adejumo stated that if given the PDP ticket to contest and elected as the governor, he will take the state to the next level of development by meeting the aspirations of the people.
He then listed his proposed programmes as including provision of abundant and cheap food, town beautification, remodelling of the state tourism and cultural heritage and provision of urban light rail.
Also speaking on the occasion, the state Chairman of the PDP, Hon, Yinka Taiwo, assured of providing level playing field for all the aspirants, stating that the leadership of the party at the state level has no favourite among the aspirants.
He however charged all the aspirants to work together for the success of the party, maintaining that they have a role to play for the smooth running of the party in the state.
