Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Governor’s forum of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Owelle Rochas Okorocha has called on all Nigerians to unite in the effort to secure the release of the abducted students of the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok Borno State.
He lamented over the continued detention of these over 200 girls kidnapped by the Boko Haram sect on April 14th this year, and the recent bombings by the sect at Nyanya in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, sympathizing with the victims and their relations.
He said so during a chat with Journalist at the Government House Owerri, Tuesday.
Owelle Rochas Okorocha also expressed worry over the unprecedented shedding of blood of innocent Nigerians in recent times and advised politicians to close ranks and find solution to the anomaly.
His words: “The blood of innocent Nigerians shedded within these few years are more than those shedded during the civil war”. The problem is where are these children? We must find and rescue them. No party can benefit from this situation, so there is no need to politicize it. So let’s close ranks now and find solution to the problem.
He urged the president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to show leadership as according to him “Any problem you meet during your tenure is a problem you are meant to solve”.
Again, the Owelle pleaded “Let every Nigerian support him” to find and rescue these Chibok School girls.
The Governor, who was speaking on the third anniversary of his victory at the Polls on May 6, also expressed sadness over the death of the legal icon, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa. He describe him as a great Igbo man and jurist and promised that the state would give him a befitting burial adding that a committee would soon be set up to achieve it.
He however expressed joy that three years after the liberation of Imo from the bondage of bad governance the people now have cause to celebrate their freedom given democratic dividends in the state.
