Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano Tuesday in Awka,forwarded 19 names to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation as his commissioners.
The list of 19 commissioners and 10 special assistants were read out on the floor of the State House of Assembly by the Speaker, Rt Hon Princess Chinwe Nwaebili.
The letter containing the names, which was forwarded to the lawmakers through the clerk of the house, enjoined them to screen the nominees and possibly confirm them as commissioners and members of the Anambra State Executive Council.
Speaking after reading out the names, Nwaebili said that the house would ensure speedy screening of the nominees to let them take off and aid the new governor in his quest to develop the state from where his successor stopped.
She quickly constituted a four-member screening committee to take up the task of screening the nominees, while also directing the Clerk of the house to liaise with the nominees to ensure that their Curriculum Vitae is submitted before the next sitting
The Chairman of the screening committee and deputy speaker, Hon Chukwudi Orizu could not grant a press interview to state how soon the job of screening the nominees would be completed.
However, a source who is also a lawmaker but refused to have his name in print said the screening will not last for over one week as the house hopes to help Governor Obiano achieve his dream of attaining success in the state.
only two of the former commissioners, Arc Callistus Ilozumba, (Works) and Mrs Azuka Enemuo, (Local Government matters) were able to make it back.
The nominees include- Callistus Olozumba(Works), Chukwuma Mbonu, (Transport), Chinedu Emeka(Public Utilities), Everistus Ubah(Environmant), Stella Uchenna, (Lands) Nnacheta, (Youths and Sports), Anthony Umerah(Information) and Kate Omenugha, (Education).
Others are- Nobert Obi(Special Duties), Josephat Akabuike, (Health), Nnamdi Mekoh(Agriculture), Obi Nwankwo, (Science and Technology), Vicky Chukwuelu, (Women’s Affairs), Greg Obi(Finance), Anah Chuddy(Justice and Attorney General), Florence Chinwuba, (Housing), Solomon Chukwudubelu(Economic Planning), Lilian Azuka Enemuo(Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters) and Ifeatu Onyejeme(Commerce).
