At least 23 persons have been killed in a multiple ghastly motor accident on Ringim-Kano and Kazaure-Daura roads in Jigawa state.
The Jigawa state commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC Dr.Muhammad Gidadi made the confirmation to news men.
He said one of the accidents occurred at 16:00 hrs in Ganji-gebi Village of Ringim local government, 7km to Ringim.
He said the accident involved two Bus; Sharon (vw) & Computer Hiace wit Reg. no: JHN 82 XA fully loaded wth passengers.
An eye witness Mallam Mustapha explained that,the accident occurred when One of the Sharon-Bus tyre blast and collided with Computer-Hi ace at the same time.
He said both of them hit some jerrycan fully loaded with fuel belong to black market seller at once and fire immediately escalated.
Mustapha said six of the passengers were burnt beyond recognition, three died in Ringim General hospital while five admitted and seven were refers to Dan masara Specialist Hospital Dutse.
While contacting the village head of Ganjin-Gebi Malam Muhammad confirmed that three person also died a day after the accident while about six houses burnt.
The commandant also explained that another accident involved two model F commercial buses, one coming from Daura town and the other from Kano city with registration number AE 200 TTK IMO and QC 415 EKY Logos,
The accident occurred when one of the bus drivers tried to overtake another vehicle without looking on coming bus and consequently they had head-on collision.
Commandant explained that the accident claimed 10 lives, including five males, five females among which is a two-year-old baby boy.
He added that the corpses were deposited at the Kazaure and Ringim General Hospital muotuary and those died beyond recognition were given mass burial while other who sustained injuries are also receiving treatment in Ringim,Kazaure General hospital and Shekoni specialist hospital Dutse.
He also condoled with the families of the diseases pray for Allah to give them fortitude to bear the lost.
Gidado further warned drivers to avoid over speeding and selling fuel at the road side
