All matches at 4pm unless otherwise stated
Saturday, January 18
Sunderland – Southampton 12.45pm
The Black Cats, under the stewardship of new boss Gus Poyet, now look capable of avoiding relegation. Boosted by a 4-1 away win at Fulham, they will present the Saints with a genuine challenge. Home win.
Arsenal – Fulham
The league leaders will will look to secure another valuable three points against their London neighbours. Arsenal’s free-flowing football should prove to be too much. Gunners take the spoils.
Crystal Palace – Stoke
This should be a gritty encounter. Both teams are desperate for the points and there won’t be much in it. Tony Pullis will face the club which sacked him last season and has a point to prove. Home advantage will swing it for the south Londoners.
Man City – Cardiff
It might be a case of just how many goals will rampant City score against the floundering Bluebirds? The hosts have been scoring for fun, and all this without ace marksman Sergio Aguero, who is now fit again. Another comfortable three points.
CITY BOY: Yaya Toure has been in excellent form this season (PA)
Norwich – Hull
A genuine tale of two cities. The hosts cannot find any consistency while the visitors lack a cutting edge to match their good approach play. The Canaries will end up chirpy.
West Ham – Newcastle
Hammers boss Sam Allardyce must have stuck two fingers up to the cynics after his team won at Cardiff. The problem with his team however, is their stuttering home form. They will have to keep an eye on the Magpies’ Loic Remy. Away win.
Liverpool – Aston Villa 4.30pm
The Anfield club has a good vibe around it at present. A Champions League spot is their first priority but why not the title? The Merseysiders are buoyant after the 5-3 win at Stoke. Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge to cause more mayhem. Reds win at a canter.
Sunday, January 19
Swansea – Tottenham 1.30pm
This fixture will be a ornithologist’s dream as the Swans meet the Cockerels! The Liberty Stadium is not the fortress it was last term, so Spurs will fancy their chances. Emmanuel Adebayor could be key for the visitors. Draw.
Chelsea – Man United 4pm
The match of the weekend has in the past been a title decider. That isn’t quite the case now as United’s inconsistent season has seen them drop off the pace. Chelsea, with Eden Hazard to the fore, are right in the mix. A win for the champions, who include the experienced Patrice Evra, would be a boost. Draw.
Monday, January 20
West Brom – Everton 8pm
New West Brom boss Pepe Mel has a real task on his hands in his first Premier League match. Mel and his new troops come up against an Everton side that covet a top four spot. Expect things to get sticky for the Baggies against the irresistible Toffees.
