Amina Bature, 28, of Kubaru village, near Aso Pada on Monday dragged her husband, Yusuf Bature, 32, of the same address before a Grade 1 Area Court in Mararaba, Nasarawa State.
The mother of four, who is seeking dissolution of her 15-year-old marriage, accused her husband of intimidation and theft.
Amina said Yusuf had been beating her with a stick used in controlling cows.
“He always beat me with cow stick and has also sold my property without my consent.
“Two days ago, he carried the cow stick as usual to beat me and I ran to the court.
“I am no longer interested in the marriage, the court should separate us,” she said.
The husband denied the allegations
The presiding judge, Mr Albert Maga, granted the accused a bail in the sum of N100, 000 and a surety in like sum.
Maga said that the surety must be a responsible citizen with landed property and must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court.
He also ordered that the surety write an undertaking that accused will not commit a similar offence pending determination of the case.
He adjourned the case to Jan. 23 for hearing.
