The Police in Rivers State have arrested no fewer than 48 suspected kidnappers, while 39 victims were rescued from various part of the State.
Also, 97 armed robbery suspects, 12 suspected cultists and three sea pirates were arrested.
The State Police Commissioner, Mr. Mbu Joseph Mbu, who disclosed this to during a news briefing in Port Harcourt, the state capital, said the feat was recorded during various operation across the state; between September 1 till date.
Mbu further said that four suspected kidnappers were killed and seven armed robbery suspects were fatally wounded.
He said within the period under review, his men foiled two kidnap attempts and one robbery operation, pointing out that 33 firearms, 404 ammunition, 46 cartridges were recovered.
The command also recovered 25 stolen vehicles, three boats, 11 handsets and N300, 000 cash from hoodlums within the period.
The Police Commissioner commended the synergy existing between the police and other security agencies, in the state, warning that there would be no hiding place for criminals in the state.
Mbu said the police would not rest on its oars in ridding the state of criminal elements.
The Police Commissioner said, “We have not rested on our oars. We are doing our best. My officers are working very hard to ensure that the state is crime-free. We have challenges; but we are meeting weekly to evaluate our strategies.
“We are working with other security agencies to ensure that crime is reduced,” he said.
