Akwa Ibom Government has set up a committee comprising management staff of ExxonMobil and leaders of the host communities to discuss and proffer solutions to payment of oil spill compensation in the state.
Governor Godswill Akpabio announced this Monday when the Executive Vice Chairman of ExxonMobil, Dr. Emmanuel Ibe kachikwu and his team paid him a courtesy visit at the Exco chambers of the Governor’s Office, Uyo.
Akpabio remarked: “We have already set up a committee to meet and discuss between the host communities and ExxonMobil with a view to proffering solutions to the payment of the oil spill compensation”.
The Vice Chairman of ExxonMobil, Dr. Kachikwu said across the globe, the most-talked discussion is the diversification of economy, which he said that ExxonMobil would continue to respect corporate citizenship in relation to Akwa Ibom State.
He thanked the Governor for his support and for creating a conducive business environment to the company, and also thanked him for the hospitality, the level of support given to ExxonMobil by the state and the host communities for their understanding.
Dr. Kachikwu then applauded the Governor for his developmental strides in the state and for rendering selfless sacrifice to the country, which he said would leave lasting imprints after tenure of his office.
In another development, the Managing Director of JNC International Limited, Nigeria, Mrs. Clara Omatseye, who also paid a courtesy visit on the state Governor said their visit to the state was for a health-care programme in promoting the general being of the people and for the advancement of technology, it is now possible to both extend and improve lives.
Omatseye explained that the company is a Nigerian incorporated limited liability ‘turkey medical equipment’ service company representing an impressive list of international manufacturers of leading medical technology brands that are global providers of medical technology solutions, stressing that health and medical technology has generally improved the quality of health care in the country.
Mrs Omatseye who was impressed with the numerous strides in the state due to development through the various infrastructure in the state, commended the Governor for bringing in world-class facility to the state, describing the Governor as a visionary leader.
Governor Akpabio commended them for coming to the state to introduce their medical tourism, remarking that the state is always interested in the medical sector and that the state is currently building a 20th Anniversary Specialist Hospital with quality facilities to ensure the full development of the state.
