Ag. Taraba Governor’s convoy on head-on collision with Emir of Bauchi convoy
The convoys of the Acting Governor of Taraba State and that of the Emir of Bauchi have been involved in road crash on Gombe road, about 25km from Shafuri village in Bauchi state.
The accident which on Sunday, involved seven escort vehicles which include the Taraba state government with registration numbers, TRGH 01,S.FADA01, Escort 03,Escort 2, Escort 01 and the Convoy of the Emir of Bauchi.
It was also gathered that the crash occurred when the Acting Governor was on his way to pay a condolence visit to Governor Isa Yuguda who lost his younger sister last week.
State sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corp, (FRSC), Mr Sunday Henry Olatunji confirmed this to newsmen in Bauchi saying that out of the 16 persons that were involved in the crash, only two persons sustained injuries,but no death was recorded.
Mr Olatunji said the accident involved two convoys belonging to the Taraba State government and the Emir of Bauchi state.
He attributed that the cause of the accident was due to overspeeding and wrong overtaking and warned motorists to obey traffic rules.
An eyewitness said the accident occurred when the one of the vehicles escorting the Taraba Acting Governor tried to overtake another vehicle in front of it and in the process collided with one of the cars of the Emir’s convoy.
