Federal Capital Territory administration by (FCTA) said on Tuesday that Police arrested 170 armed robbers and recovered 604 live ammunition and AK 47 within five months in the territory.
A statement signed by Mohammed Hazat Sule, Chief Press Secretary to the FCT Minister Senator Bala Mohammed said the FCT Commissioner of Police Mr. Femi Ogunbayode gave the figures in a security meeting with FCTA authorities.
According to statement, 604 live ammunition, 27 locally made pistols, 3 AK-47 Riffles, 1 Lar-Riffle, 11 Wooden/Toy Guns and 1 Joe Jeff Pump Action Gun were recovered from robbers within the period.
He said a total of 61 stolen vehicles were recovered in the Federal Capital Territory during the period under review.
While further revealing that 32 Armed Robbery cases have so far been charged to court, he remarked that there was only one case of abduction reported during the period.
The Police Commissioner reiterated that through intelligence, about 10 criminal hideouts have been identified and raids carried out regularly with 940 suspects arrested and 283 prosecuted
He warned that owners of all uncompleted buildings scattered around the Federal Capital would be held responsible if miscreants are traced to the locations.
The Police boss therefore, enjoined residents to be vigilant at all times particularly as we enter the ember months and report suspicious activities to the law enforcement agents.
