The on-going convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja has seen the party returning some of its officials to their former positions. Particularly, former National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh and Kema Chikwe, Women Leader have been returned to their posts. Others who have been so far elected include: Mustapha Abubakar….. National Organizing Secretary; Nnaedozie Okechukwu, Deputy National Organising Secretary; Jallo Abdullahi Ibrahim, Deputy National Publicity Secretary; Bala Buhari, National Treasurer; Enegesi Claudius Godsave, Deputy National Treasurer; Bar. Kwon Victor Yusuf, National Legal Adviser; Maidugu Bashir, Deputy Legal Adviser; Ulama Hanatu, Deputy National Women Leader; Abdullahi Maibasira, National Youth Leader; Gwalabe Auwalu Abdu, Deputy National Financial Secretary among others. Meanwhile, Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Tony Anenih, has called for peaceful co-existence in Nigeria for the enhancement of the country’s stability. Anenih who spoke at the Eagle Square in Abuja on Saturday at PDP’s Special National Convention called on members of the party to complement this by embracing peace as well. “This call becomes imperative for the country to move forward. Time has come for all Nigerians to come together and tolerate one another,’’ he said. Anenih who noted that there would always be crisis in every society, however, said PDP had the mechanism to resolve its internal crises. In his speech, Gov. Godswill Akpabio, Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, said the party was owned by “all Nigerians’’. He also emphasised the need for peace to reign in the country for the country to be run smoothly. Akpabio claimed that statistics showed that the best states at the moment in the country were the ones being run by PDP governors. He also said PDP governors had resolved to give adequate support to President Goodluck Jonathan in the running of the country. “The President has succeeded with `an uncommon performance’, leading to the reaping of democratic dividends by the people. “The uncommon reformation in both the power, health and aviation sectors are great achievements. “For the first time in 10 years, the rails are now running and airports are wearing new-looks, just as peace is being restored in the troubled Northern parts of the country,’’ Akpabio said. Mrs Josephine Anenih, a former PDP National Women Leader, appealed “to every aggrieved person in the party to always embrace dialogue. “Try and avoid unnecessary distraction because dialogue is the only solution to peace.’’ She pointed out that “the unity of the country must be paramount to all’’.
