The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) on Wednesday expressed concern on the proliferation of arms in Borno despite security presence in the state.
The President-General, JNI and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, said this in a statement issued by the Secretary- General of the organisation, Dr Khalid Aliyu, in Kaduna.
The sultan called on the government to check the incessant attacks meted on the people by the gunmen.
Sa’ad condemned the recent attack that led to the death of over 50 persons in Bama and Malam Fatori in Borno despite the presence of the police and military formations in the areas.
He urged the government to investigate and resolve the insecurity that pervaded the nation.
He also called on the government to restore the use of GSM in Borno, adding that the restoration would facilitate security alert and safeguard lives and properties
