Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has emerged as a three-time Guinness World Record holder following confirmation that her September 2025 culinary feat also earned her an additional global title.
Baci announced on Tuesday that her record-breaking attempt for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice had simultaneously qualified as the largest serving of rice overall, bringing her total Guinness World Records to three.
Sharing the news on Instagram, where she updated her bio to read “Chef X3 Guinness World Record Holder,” Baci expressed excitement and disbelief at the achievement.
“Woke up a three-time Guinness World Records holder and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. What a way to step into 2026,” she wrote.
According to an official email from Guinness World Records, signed by Andrew Fanning, Head of Client Partnering, Records Creative Team, the organisation discovered that Baci’s successful attempt had met the criteria for two separate record titles.
“Congratulations, you are officially amazing again,” the email read, noting that the guidelines for both records overlapped.
Reacting to the development, Baci said she was shocked to learn—months after the initial confirmation—that her effort had earned an additional title.
“What I thought was one record turned out to be two. And now, officially, that makes three Guinness World Records in total,” she said.
In September 2025, Baci prepared 8,780 kilograms of Nigerian-style jollof rice at a Lagos cookout, setting the world record for the largest serving of the dish ever made. That feat marked her second Guinness World Record, following her historic 93-hour, 11-minute cooking marathon in May 2023.
Baci credited her success to teamwork, singling out her collaborator, Oreoluwa Atinmo, and thanked her entire crew for their dedication. She also expressed gratitude to God, Guinness World Records, and her supporters.
The latest recognition further cements Hilda Baci’s status as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished chefs and highlights Nigerian cuisine on the global stage.
