In a coordinated operation, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) detained 40 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud across various areas of Abuja on May 31, 2024.
Among those apprehended, 18 were caught in Dawaki, with the remaining 22 detained in different parts of the city. The crackdown came as a result of credible intelligence implicating them in online criminal activities.
During the operation, authorities seized 23 mobile phones, 4 laptops, and 4 vehicles from the suspects as potential evidence. Pending the completion of investigations, they will face charges in court.
