Armed bandits have abducted eight worshippers from the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA), Omugo, in Oro-Ago, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, and are demanding a ransom of N1 billion for their release.

The attack occurred during last Sunday’s service. According to sources, the abductors contacted the community on Wednesday, insisting that all communities in the Oro-Ago axis contribute to meet the N1 billion ransom. An initial offer of N1 million by the community was rejected.

The pastor of ECWA Church, Omole Timothy, whose wife is among the abductees, confirmed that the kidnappers have made their demands and warned against any attempt to negotiate a lower amount. Pastor Omole said he was allowed a brief conversation with his wife.

At the time of reporting, no official response had been obtained from security agencies or the Kwara State government.
