A Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna State has adjourned the hearing of the bail application filed by former governor Nasir El-Rufai to March 31, 2026.
The adjournment followed proceedings held on Tuesday, during which both the prosecution and defence presented their arguments before the court.
Counsel to the defendant, Ukpon Akpan, urged the court to grant bail, stressing his client’s constitutional right to liberty and the need to adequately prepare for his defence.
However, the prosecution opposed the application, arguing that the allegations against the former governor are grave and that releasing him on bail could hinder ongoing investigations.
The court subsequently fixed March 31 for continuation of the hearing.
