The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, are at odds following an attempt by the anti-graft agency to take over his Abuja residence.

Operatives of the EFCC on Tuesday stormed Malami’s Maitama home, arriving in about five buses and heavily armed. Led by an official identified as Folarin Dare, the operatives, dressed in the commission’s red and black jackets, cordoned off the road leading to the property.

The residence, located at No. 2 Koranakh Close, off Amazon Street, was sealed off, preventing access to the premises.

The move is believed to be linked to an ongoing investigation into alleged financial misconduct involving the former minister.

The development comes amid rising tension between both parties, with Malami earlier describing the action as political intimidation.
