West Ham United FC strengthened their Premier League survival bid with a crucial 1-0 victory over Fulham FC at Craven Cottage.
Crysencio Summerville proved the difference, scoring the decisive goal in the second half to secure West Ham’s first win in four matches and lift them level on points with fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest FC.
After a largely quiet performance, Summerville capitalised on a defensive mix-up between Bernd Leno and Calvin Bassey. Jarrod Bowen reacted quickly to slide the ball across goal, leaving the Dutch winger with a simple finish.
Fulham, featuring Nigeria international Alex Iwobi, pushed for an equaliser but were repeatedly frustrated by a disciplined West Ham backline. Defender Axel Disasi, on loan from Chelsea FC, delivered another commanding display, making key clearances and putting his body on the line to preserve the clean sheet.
Manager Nuno Espirito Santo opted for a traditional 4-4-2 formation, which provided defensive solidity and allowed Bowen and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to combine effectively on the flanks.
It marked West Ham’s third clean sheet in five games and their first win over a top-half side in 15 attempts. With momentum building and performances improving, the Hammers’ fight against relegation has gained fresh belief.
