Over 100 worshippers abducted by gunmen in three Kaduna churches

Gunmen on Sunday abducted more than 100 worshippers during coordinated attacks on three churches in Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The attacks occurred during Sunday services, eyewitnesses said. The assailants reportedly arrived in large numbers and struck the churches almost simultaneously, forcing worshippers to abandon services before leading them away into nearby bush paths.

As of the time of filing this report, details of the victims’ identities and the exact number abducted were still being verified. Security agencies were yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

Kajuru Local Government Area, located in southern Kaduna, has in recent years witnessed repeated attacks involving banditry, kidnappings, and communal violence. The area has remained a hotspot for abductions targeting rural communities, with residents frequently raising concerns over inadequate security presence despite repeated government assurances.

The latest abductions have again heightened fears among residents and religious groups, coming amid ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb kidnapping and violent crimes across Kaduna State.
