Police arraign Lagos businessman over alleged rape of friend’s lover

The police on Friday arraigned a 29-year-old businessman, Femi Falomo, before the Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over an alleged rape.

Falomo, who resides at Alhaji Abe Deen Close, Igan, along Igando Road, is facing a one-count charge of rape. He pleaded not guilty to the allegation.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, the offence was allegedly committed on January 1 at Governor’s Road, Ikotun, Lagos. He told the court that the defendant allegedly lured a 20-year-old woman, said to be his friend’s lover, who was stranded after a crossover service, to a hotel where the incident occurred.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Chief Magistrate L.A. Owolabi granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦700,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until March 4 for mention.
