Afrobeats superstar Davido has added another win to his name — this time off the pitch — after pocketing a whopping ₦72 million from a successful bet on Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
The music star had staked $10,000 (about ₦14.3 million) on the Super Eagles to defeat Gabon in the 2026 World Cup playoff match played on Thursday in Morocco. With betting odds of 5.02 on the Stake platform, Davido’s wager yielded an impressive $50,000 (₦71.6 million) payout after Nigeria’s emphatic 4–1 victory.
Davido, who has never hidden his passion for football and support for the national team, confidently declared before the match that he was sure the Super Eagles would triumph — a prediction that proved right in spectacular fashion.
The Super Eagles delivered a dominant performance in the playoff clash held in Morocco. Adams opened scoring early for Nigeria, but Gabon fought back to level the game in the 89th minute, forcing extra time.
Napoli star Victor Osimhen, who had missed a clear chance earlier in the match, redeemed himself with two crucial goals in extra time after Chidera Ejuke restored Nigeria’s lead. The 4–1 victory not only sent the Super Eagles through to the next stage but also reaffirmed their attacking strength and renewed fans’ confidence in the team’s World Cup qualification quest.
For Davido, the Super Eagles’ triumph turned out to be both a patriotic joy and a profitable gamble.
