Lille stunned Roma with a hard-fought 1-0 victory in their clash on Thursday, but the real drama unfolded at the penalty spot, where the Italian side missed the same penalty three times in extraordinary fashion.

The bizarre sequence began when Artem Dovbyk stepped up for Roma after the referee awarded a spot-kick. His first attempt was saved brilliantly by Lille goalkeeper Ertuğrul Özer, only for the kick to be retaken due to encroachment.

Dovbyk tried again, but Özer once more guessed right and kept the ball out. Incredibly, the referee spotted further encroachment, ordering a third attempt. This time, Matías Soulé was given the responsibility, but Özer denied him as well, completing a stunning triple save that left Roma and their fans in disbelief.

Lille’s resilience was rewarded as they held firm and snatched the win thanks to a decisive goal that proved enough to claim all three points.

The result highlights Roma’s growing struggles in front of goal, while Lille will celebrate both the victory and their goalkeeper’s heroic display in one of the most remarkable penalty incidents seen in recent European football.
