The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, requesting a thorough investigation and possible prosecution of popular musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, over an incident involving ValueJet Airlines.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Michael Achimugu.

According to the statement, the NCAA is calling for a comprehensive criminal investigation and appropriate legal action in line with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) 2023 and other relevant laws.

> “The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, reportedly disrupted standard operating procedures and raised serious concerns about passenger conduct and airline safety protocols,” the statement read.

Preliminary findings suggest that K1 De Ultimate may have breached established aviation safety rules during ValueJet’s scheduled flight VK201.

While full details of the incident are still under review, the NCAA stressed the need for strict enforcement of aviation regulations and accountability for all individuals, regardless of status.

“In letters addressed to the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police, the NCAA requested a full criminal investigation and appropriate prosecution in accordance with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023 and all other applicable laws,” the agency reiterated.

In a related move, the Director General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, has issued an advisory to the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), recommending the immediate consideration of placing K1 De Ultimate on a no-fly list for all commercial flights, pending the outcome of the investigation.

“This advisory aligns with global best practices, which prioritize the safety of passengers, crew, and flight operations,” the statement added.

The development comes amid increasing concerns over the enforcement of in-flight conduct regulations and passenger accountability in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
