In a move set to transform Nigeria’s fuel distribution landscape, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced the commencement of large-scale distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel to marketers, petrol stations, manufacturers, telecom companies, aviation operators, and other major fuel users nationwide, starting August 15, 2025.

As part of this groundbreaking national initiative, the refinery will offer free logistics support, eliminating transportation costs to improve access to fuel across the country. This marks a significant shift in Nigeria’s energy sector, with the potential to reduce fuel costs, support business growth, and stabilize prices.

To support this rollout, Dangote Refinery has invested heavily in infrastructure, including the procurement of 4,000 brand-new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers. This initiative will be implemented in phases to ensure sustained coverage. In addition, the refinery is establishing CNG “daughter booster” stations across Nigeria, backed by a fleet of over 100 CNG-powered delivery trucks, to ensure seamless fuel distribution to even the most remote areas.

“This programme is a major step toward eliminating logistics costs, improving energy efficiency, and promoting sustainability. It reflects our deep commitment to supporting Nigeria’s economic growth and ensuring all Nigerians have access to affordable fuel,” the company said in a statement.

Under the scheme, petrol stations, manufacturers, and key sectors such as telecommunications will benefit from direct supply at lower costs. The resulting drop in fuel distribution expenses is expected to reduce production costs, lower inflation, and stimulate economic activity across sectors.
