Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, has stated that none of the current presidential aspirants in Nigeria share his unique background and experience.
Speaking in an interview with Arise Television on Monday, the former Governor of Anambra State emphasized his dedication to building a better Nigeria, asserting that his combined experience in both business and governance distinguishes him from other contenders.
“Let me assure you, I’m committed to a better Nigeria, and I have what it takes,” Obi said. “I have the experience of everyone currently aspiring to be president. None of them has my background. I built a successful business in this country. I’ve worked in the corporate world, and I served as a governor. I transformed a small bank into a N25 billion institution.”
Obi highlighted his tenure as governor, saying he left office without owing any salaries or pensions, and even saved money for the state. He further stated that since leaving office, he has not received any form of benefit from the Anambra State Government.
“I left office without owing anyone. I believe I saved more money than any other governor in the state’s history. And since then, I’ve never received a pension, gratuity, or even a bottle of water from the state,” he added.
To underscore his integrity, Obi challenged the government to seize any land or asset allegedly allocated to him during his time in office.
