Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday officially commissioned the newly constructed Lagos State Commercial Court located in Tapa, Lagos Island — a strategic move aimed at strengthening the state’s legal infrastructure and bolstering investor confidence.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the new court building underscores his administration’s commitment to fostering a more responsive and efficient judicial system tailored specifically to handle commercial disputes.

“This building embodies our commitment to fostering a judicial environment that delivers timely, efficient, and specialized adjudication of commercial disputes,” the governor stated.

The state-of-the-art facility features ten fully furnished courtrooms, libraries on each floor, and well-equipped conference rooms. These amenities are designed to enhance both the efficiency of judicial processes and the overall experience for litigants and legal practitioners.

Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the broader economic implications of the new court, noting that it forms part of a deliberate strategy to create a legal framework conducive to economic growth.

“Our goal is to create a legal framework that supports economic growth, encourages investment, promotes entrepreneurship, and ultimately simplifies the process of doing business in Lagos State,” he said.

He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to driving reforms that not only stimulate economic development but also uphold the rule of law across the state.

With the launch of the Lagos State Commercial Court, stakeholders in the business and legal communities are optimistic about a more robust environment for resolving disputes — one that could significantly reduce delays and build greater confidence in the state’s legal system.
