Three siblings—two girls, aged 7 and 9, and their 5-year-old brother—were tragically murdered and their bodies placed in a deep freezer in Nnewichi, Nnewi, Anambra State, by yet-to-be-identified assailants.
The children, Ejezie Chikaima Daviana (9), Ejezie Chimziterem Dominica (7), and Ejezie Chimdilim David (5), were home alone when their mother, Mrs. Chikazor Ejezie, a lecturer and nurse, left to attend an examination. Upon returning, she was alarmed to find the door wide open—a strange occurrence since the children always locked up when they went outside.
The father, Mr. Ejezie Udochukwu, who resides in Irrua, Edo State, received a call from his wife on Saturday, February 1, informing him of the disturbing discovery. He rushed to Nnewichi as soon as he heard the news.
“My wife returned home to find the children missing,” Mr. Udochukwu recounted. “She searched for them, even at the church where they served as altar boys and girls, but they weren’t there. Eventually, in desperation, she and others opened the deep freezer—and that’s when they found their lifeless bodies.”
He added that the children had been eating when the assailants likely attacked, as traces of food were found abandoned on plates, suggesting they had been interrupted suddenly.
“The bodies have been taken to the morgue, and we’ve reported the incident to the police. It’s devastating. I can’t believe my three children were killed by unknown attackers,” Udochukwu said, overcome with grief.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident, stating that the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, has ordered a full investigation. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka for further examination.
“The bodies have been recovered, and the CP has directed that a thorough investigation be conducted into the matter,” Ikenga said.
