A member of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Olabode George, Atona Oodua of Yorubaland, has raised the alarm that the party is heading to disaster in 2027 unless something urgent is done to stop its disintegration.

He said this on Friday during a press conference in Lagos, and stressed that PDP’s success in 2027 depends on unity, fairness, and justice, urging leaders to be vigilant and ensure that everyone is treated equally.

Chief Bode George condemned the use of thugs to invade the PDP Party Secretariat during the 79th Board of Trustees meeting, calling it despicable, inhuman, and a national embarrassment.
He criticized the attack on party officers and the desecration of the party’s office by thugs, highlighting the intervention of police and security personnel to restore order.
Chief George who highlighted the foundational values of the PDP established by notable figures like Chief Solomon Lar, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, and Chief Bola Ige, contrasting them with the current crisis, described the actions of certain disloyal members as a violation of the party’s principles, noting that personal ambition has overshadowed the collective interest of the PDP.
He called for an urgent peace meeting to unite the opposing factions within the party and warned that those unwilling to make peace should step aside.
He stressed that anyone undermining the party’s unity should be shown the way out, urging the leadership to wield the big stick to maintain discipline.
He warned against turning the PDP into a party of thugs, calling it an “Agbero” party, and urged members to adhere to the party’s rules and regulations.
He said the current crisis was self-inflicted and called for personal ambitions to be put aside to avoid the party’s collapse.
He stated that a divided PDP cannot succeed and that allowing “snakes in the bedroom” (internal threats) would lead to further disintegration.
