President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has conducted a significant cabinet reshuffle, dismissing six ministers, including Barr. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, Lola Ade-John, Prof. Tahir Mamman, Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, and Betta Edu, who had previously been suspended as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
The reshuffle includes the removal of Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, formerly the Minister of Women Affairs, Lola Ade-John, the ex-Minister of Tourism, and Prof. Tahir Mamman SAN OON, who served as Minister of Education. Also departing are Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo, who was the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, the former Minister of Youth Development.
In a move aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency, the president appointed Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda as the new Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu has been named Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, while Yusuf Tanko Sununu will serve as Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
Additionally, Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa transitions from Minister of State for Health to Minister of Education, and Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim steps in as Minister of Women Affairs. Hon. Abubakar Momoh, formerly the Minister of Niger Delta Development, will lead the newly established Ministry of Regional Development, overseeing various regional commissions.
Other key appointments include Ayodele Olawande as Minister for Youth Development and Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, who shifts from Industry, Trade, and Investment to Minister of State for Finance. Uba Maigari Ahmadu also changes roles from Minister of State for Steel Development to Minister of State for Regional Development.
President Tinubu urged all new and reassigned ministers to view their positions as a commitment to serve the nation and expressed gratitude to the outgoing ministers, encouraging the new appointees to focus on driving Nigeria’s growth.
