Rainstorm on Friday rendered many homeless after destroying houses in Iyara, Ijumu local government area of Kogi state.
An unspecified number of people were reported to have sustained various degrees of injuries in the disaster.
The heavy rainfall, which started at about some minutes past 4pm on Friday, destroyed some classrooms of Community High School, Iyara.
Although there was no loss of life, those injured according to reports are currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
The President of Iyara Development Association, Alh. Aliyu Badaki, expressed sadness over the disaster which he described as unfortunate.
According to Alh. Aliyu, the damage done by the storm is massive and beyond what the community can handle.
He called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), corporate organizations, and well-to-do individuals to come to the aid of the community.
